A retractable roof pergola is a pergola whose roof is a PVC-based technical fabric that opens and folds back along rails. The roof moves by motor or by hand, so the same terrace can sit in shade or under open sky. We build two motorised series in this family: Avantgarde for commercial terraces and Elegant for homes. 01How it works
The fabric runs on rails, the terrace opens.
The frame of a retractable roof pergola combines aluminium profiles with stainless steel fittings, while the roof itself is a PVC-based technical fabric. The fabric travels along rails. When you extend it, it covers the terrace; when you fold it back, the terrace returns to open air.
On Avantgarde and Elegant a motor moves the roof, and you control it by remote. This way you open or close the roof without leaving your seat. Elegant moves quietly and quickly, whereas Avantgarde offers single-rail and double-curtain solutions.
The aluminium profiles carry an electrostatic powder coating in RAL colours or wood-grain finishes that suit the building. We also design the systems for rain, wind and snow conditions. The specific values for your project, however, come from our technical team, who calculate them from its size and location.

Summer noon
With the roof closed, the fabric shades the terrace. Avantgarde's blackout fabric in particular blocks the midday light.
Open air
When the weather is fine, you fold the fabric back along the rails. The same terrace then works under open sky in the late afternoon.
Rainy days
Avantgarde's waterproof fabric keeps rain out while its gutter profiles collect the water. Our technical team also calculates wind and rain values for each project.
Windy evenings
You can close the lower sides with glass. If you add side closure systems, the terrace becomes a fully enclosed space.
Winter and cool days
A closed roof with glass and side closures keeps the terrace in use in cooler months. However, our technical team calculates snow values for your size and location.
Evening light
Avantgarde can take optional LED modules on its fabric support profiles, while Elegant can take LED spots or hidden LED modules. We plan the power supply during the survey.

We take size, ground, wind and sun orientation on site or from your drawings. In Türkiye the site survey is free of charge.

Design and quote
First we choose the series, colour and extras with you. Then you receive a written quote and delivery schedule.

Production
Once you approve the quote, we make the system to your project in our Akyazı / Sakarya factory.

Installation
In Türkiye our own team installs and commissions the system. Abroad, an authorised dealer or the project's installation team installs it with our installation manual, drawings and remote technical support.

After installation, warranty registration and after-sales support run through one contact. We set out the warranty terms in writing with the quote.
06Where it is used
From restaurant terrace to home garden.
On restaurant, café and hotel terraces, a retractable roof pergola shelters tables from sun and rain without cutting the terrace off from the open air. Avantgarde answers this brief with blackout fabric, gutter profiles and lower sides that close with glass. Moreover, when you combine it with other covering systems, the terrace becomes a fully enclosed space.
At home, however, Elegant comes first. It mounts on a wall or stands free in a garden, on a balcony, on a veranda or on a poolside terrace. In the evening, LED spots or hidden LED modules light the terrace.
If you want a manual solution for a seaside deck, a garden or a café, Toscana is another option. Then we decide together at the survey which system suits your site.

Is a retractable roof pergola waterproof?
Avantgarde's fabric is waterproof, and its gutter profiles collect the rainwater. Elegant's roof is a PVC-based technical fabric. We also design both systems for rain, wind and snow conditions. That is why our technical team calculates the values for your project from its size and location and gives them to you in writing. At the survey we also check the ground and the fixing points.
What is the difference between a retractable roof and a bioclimatic pergola?
A bioclimatic pergola has a roof of motorised aluminium louvres that stop at intermediate angles to follow the sun. On a retractable roof pergola, by contrast, technical fabric folds back along rails and the terrace returns to open air. So the choice depends on whether you want to steer light with louvre angles or by folding the fabric away. Our comparison page shows both families side by side.
Can you use a retractable roof pergola in winter?
With enclosure options it stays usable in cooler and wetter months. Avantgarde's lower sides close with glass, and the system combines with other covering systems into a fully enclosed space. Elegant also becomes an enclosed space with side closure systems and glass. However, snow and wind values depend on size and location, so our technical team calculates them for each project.
How much does a retractable roof pergola cost?

Should I choose a motorised or a manual pergola?
Avantgarde and Elegant both run on a motor, so you open and close the roof by remote. That suits a busy restaurant terrace or a garden you use every day, because you steer the roof from your seat. If you prefer a fabric roof that you open by hand, Toscana from our shading family is an option. We make the decision with you based on how often you use the terrace.
Do I need a permit for a pergola?
That depends on local planning rules, the building's management regulations and whether the system attaches to the building. This is general information, not legal advice. Before you apply, check with your municipality or building authority and with your site management. If an application needs drawings or technical details, our team prepares them for you.
Who installs and services the system?
In Türkiye our own team installs and commissions the system. Abroad, our authorised dealers or the project's installation team carry out the installation, and we provide the installation manual, drawings and remote technical support. On large hotel and project jobs our project sales team coordinates the site. After handover, after-sales service and warranty registration run through one contact.
