A retractable pergola is a pergola with a PVC-based technical fabric roof that opens and folds back along rails. The roof moves by motor or by hand, so the same patio can sit in shade or under open sky. We build two motorized series: Avantgarde for restaurant and hotel patios and Elegant for homes. 01How it works
Fabric on rails, open sky on demand.
The frame of a retractable pergola pairs aluminum profiles with stainless steel fittings, and the roof is a PVC-based technical fabric. The fabric travels along rails. Extend it and it covers your patio; fold it back and the patio opens to the sky again.
On Avantgarde and Elegant, a motor moves the roof and you run it by remote. So you can open or close the roof without getting out of your chair. Elegant moves quietly and quickly, while Avantgarde offers single-rail and double-curtain options.
The aluminum profiles get an electrostatic powder coating in RAL colors or wood-grain finishes to match your home. We also design the systems for rain, wind and snow conditions. However, our technical team calculates the specific values for your project based on its size and location.

With the roof closed, the fabric shades your patio. Avantgarde's blackout fabric in particular blocks the midday sun.
Open sky
When the weather is nice, you fold the fabric back along the rails. Then the same patio works under open sky for the rest of the day.
Rainy days
Avantgarde's waterproof fabric keeps rain out while its gutter profiles collect the water. Our technical team also calculates wind and rain values for each project.
Windy evenings
You can close the lower sides with glass. If you add side closure systems, the patio becomes a fully enclosed space.
Winter and cool days
A closed roof with glass and side closures keeps the patio in use in cooler months. However, our technical team calculates snow values for your site.
Evening light
Avantgarde can take optional LED modules on its fabric support profiles, while Elegant can take LED spots or hidden LED modules. We plan the wiring as part of the project.

Once you approve the quote, we build the system to your project in our factory in Sakarya, Türkiye.

Installation
In Türkiye our own team installs and commissions the system. Elsewhere, an authorized dealer or your project's installation crew installs it with our installation manual, drawings and remote technical support.

06Where it works
From restaurant patios to backyard decks.
On restaurant, café and hotel patios, a retractable pergola shelters tables from sun and rain without closing the space off from the open air. Avantgarde takes on this job with blackout fabric, gutter profiles and lower sides that close with glass. And when you combine it with other covering systems, the patio becomes a fully enclosed space.
At home, however, Elegant is the natural pick. It mounts on a wall or stands on its own in a backyard, on a balcony, on a porch or by the pool. After sunset, LED spots or hidden LED modules light up the patio.

Are retractable pergolas waterproof?
Avantgarde's fabric is waterproof, and its gutter profiles collect the rainwater. Elegant's roof is a PVC-based technical fabric. We also design both systems for rain, wind and snow conditions. That is why our technical team calculates the values for your project based on its size and location and puts them in writing. They also check the ground and the fixing points from your drawings.
Louvered vs retractable pergola: what is the difference?
A louvered pergola has a roof of motorized aluminum louvers that stop at in-between angles to follow the sun. On a retractable pergola, by contrast, technical fabric folds back along rails and the patio opens to the sky. So the choice comes down to whether you want to control light with louver angles or by folding the fabric away. Our comparison page shows both families side by side.
Can you use a retractable pergola in winter?
With enclosure options it stays usable in cooler and wetter months. Avantgarde's lower sides close with glass, and the system combines with other covering systems into a fully enclosed space. Elegant also becomes an enclosed space with side closure systems and glass. However, snow and wind values depend on size and location, so our technical team calculates them for each project.
How much does a retractable pergola cost?

Do I need a permit for a retractable pergola?
Permit rules depend on your city, county and HOA, and on whether the pergola attaches to your house. This is general information, not legal advice. In Türkiye our own team installs and commissions the system.
